I've been doing some moving latley........ I am so excited!! I am at the toe of my Jaywalker sock and I have plans for more socks throughout my favorit month of the year!! But, until I get around to posting pictures, a survey from the lovely Lolly: When did you start making socks? - Newyears eve, (2004-2005) Did you teach yourself or were you taught by a friend or relative? or in a class? - had to teach myslef What was your first pair? - a plain pattern with self verigated yarn that makes a pattern, made up of black, white and the primary colours How have they "held up" over time? - yes, most likely becuse I don't wear them much because I didn't know how to purl so they roll down and noy me What would you have done differently? - learned how to purl so the ribbing would work and they would stay up, join the heel properly so the sock wouldn't be half knit half purl when I was done What yarns have you particularly enjoyed? - self patterning (is that a word?) Do you like to crochet your socks? or knit them on DPNs, 2 circulars, or using the Magic Loop method? - DPNs, but would love to learn to use circulars!! Which kind of heel do you prefer? So who else watched House tonight??? Any ways, I have some knitting updates. Jaywalker socks Started: Sept 17 '06 progress: ribbing done, on to zigzag pattern. 2 1/4 inches until the heel. I love the pattern so far!!!

No other news besides this. I just had to post because I received six skeins of sock yarn from my Granny on suday and I love the verigated blue. My sister already put in an order and the Jaywalkers are for me so I haven't decided to do with the last (unplanned pair, my sister gets plain socks at the moment). I guess I can always try out new patterns and if I don't like it it's one christmas gift done!!

Quick update. Not alot of knitting due to weather and school being in. I hope to get some sock yarn to make the Snicket Socks from Mag Knits. It may have to wait untill Socktober........ For now I leave you with this video clip of my baby, we will have had her a year on October 18th (also my birthday). I knit her this little square of some blue hand dyed yarn I won and she just loves chewing on it and felting it in her mouth!!

Psssst, guess what I've been doing lately? Having fun with plain t-shirts and fabric paint! Well, not just fabric paint, I bought some iron-on crayons and was itching to try them. But first, my latest stencil creation, a little seahorse tank top and here's my first try at fabric crayons. Not too bad for a non-white t-shirt and a freehand drawing

Maybe the heat is making me do crazy things. But I feel very smart right now, so I just had to share this. I always hate seaming up the toe of my socks. I never seem to do it as nicely as everyone else. So today while hunting for my darning needles to finally get it over with, I had a thought. I like three needle BO's................ So I turned the sock inside out (that was fun, trying to get the needles through such a small hole) and began the three needle BO. It worked! My toe looks fine, no holes like my first attempt. I'm happy!!! ~K~

Did you miss me? Well, I do have lots of pictures to show you!! Mostly non-knitting related, but stick around, they will be interesting. For some reason, up here in CANADA there is a heat wave. It's crazy, I even have proof that it's hot (for me)

Finally some knitting, I have one sock done! Well, all but sewing up the toe. It's not my fault I can't find my darning needles!! Oh well, as soon as it cools off I hope to finally finish my Clapotis. I may end up giving it to a family friend of mine that is haveing a surprise birthday party being held for her in september, so I need to get on it!!!

And in sewing news...... I have a new semi-completed project. It is all sewn together, but I was a bit short of one material needed so when that's fixed I will show it off. That and it looks better when it's on me rather than hanging on a hanger. Oh, for any Supernatural fans out there, I just got a notice in the mail that they will be filming a block away from my house! If I get a chance to see the hot stars, I will deffinatly report back to the blog asap!!! ~K~

Ah, camp tomorrow!! Just a super short note to thank Katie of Straying Power for the yarn! I received it today (good time too since I leave for camp tomorrow!) and I can't wait to make something when I get back. I have a few ideas, possibly felting............. you'll just have to wait!! I promise to have lots of pictures of me having fun :) I'll miss the computer and how it connects me to knitters, but I love it so much out there I will forget all about my computer. Just a short post today. Yay for a new month and a new colour of project spectrum!! Yesterday I spent most of the day bike riding. It was alot of fun, really good scenery, but my butt hurts sooooo much!!! Here is a picture of my friends bike and her Starbucks drink we had for out break. Sorry no pretty scenery pictures, by the time we got back to the park we were cycling in, we were to tired and sweaty to take more pictures. Hopefully I will post again before wednesday, but if not I'm going to camp for 10 days! I will have lots of pictures from that! Happy knitting!! ~Karen

....... it's 90 outside! ....... dad buy's a nice big fan, for himself!(and mom) ....... I don't feel like knitting that sock (even though it's an anklet, I can't even think about wearing it, or even touching that hot wool so it's best to wait for some cooler weather) ....... you go to the mall just for the air conditioning, and of course the shopping ....... you get the "info package" in the mail for camp! ( I get to be a leader!) ....... you pull out the fan 'cause your such a wimp (I sleep in the basement) ....... clear blue skies! ....... local transit has the air conditioning on!(only the fancy new cars, but it doesn't really matter) ....... the cats retreat to the basement ....... all of the clothing you were looking at in magazines months ago now looks inviting (hello, swimsuites in april?) ....... the only change in the seven day forecast is the addition of the flag for Canada Day ....... I am lazy and make a list instead of an actual blog entry. So I'm goin' shopping tomorrow in the U.S., wish me luck at finding some good deals and just enjoying the day (I LOVE Target!). I hope you've been seeing blue since the month is almost over. Keep it cool...................................................... ~K~

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! As you can probably tell I am excited. I finished my last exam today, the weather is great, and I have sooo much time to knit!! This will just be a quick post. My bio teacher LOVED the nautie! I can't wait to make more, I loved it too!

I'm sure it is a good home. Well any ways, not much progress on my socks but I'm sure my next blog entry will have a finished sock. Over just a more exciting sock. I need to round up some friends and head to the beach tomorrow!!

So now that Ive been all sad this week over my ipod and upcoming exams, the love as been pouring in!! My dad has tried everything to cheer me up, icecream, pink flowers, jokes........... but I can't get over the fact someone stole from me! Oh well, at least I have distractions. like knitting. I am so close to being finished my first nautie that I am going to give to my bio teacher. I hope he likes it!! here it is, with only two tentacles

and I started this little pink ankle sock for June 10th, world wide knit in public day! I had lots of fun meeting up with other knitters. It makes me really want to join a knitting group and meet up with people over the summer, because I never have time on school nites but during the summer I have nothing better to do. Plus I would love to meet other knitters not online so I can actually see them in person!

Now for some past news I never wrote about. My grandparents got a new kitten!! I went to Victoria with my grandmother and sister to go pick it up. What a cutie!! I can't wait to play with her again, she is a 1 pound ball of fluf!!!!

And for my latest sew?I knit! project, I made a summer shirt. I forget the pattern, but you can check the sew along if you like it and want to make one (an pictures because bloger is being stupid). The one the thing I altered was adding elastic to the edge of the sleves to make them stay down because I used a cotton fabric and they stuck out. I love it and want to wear it now that the weather is picking up enough to wear just a t-shirt ( I don't really have a sweater that would go with it) So thats all for now. I'm so glad I've been keeping up on my blog reading, so far I've found two people giving away stash yarn! yay for summer cleaning!! !K!

I'm sad that I must feel blue this month, even when I love the colour blue. Long story short, my ipod was stolen on monday, and now I am suffering ipod withdral. On a happier note, I've been keeping up with my knitting!! The only blue FO so far is my sophie purse, which I got a head start on in may. I love the yarn that I won, and was happy to finally use it. At the moment I have a nautie on the needles, as a gift for my Bio teacher. It isn't necissarily blue, but the mix of purple and green looks blue sometimes. I hope to keep on knitting, and maybe just maybe get myself another ipod before I go away to camp. ~K~

As promised, I have knit my bit of orange for April, just a month late. This Ginny Weasley hat will be loved, even though it is odd and may not suit me. It reminds me of the Burrow, odd but interesting. Yarn used: cascade 220, colour 7826 and Red Heart Whirly, colourway "cheerful" Time: Desperate Houswives + Cold Case season finale (little over 3 hours in total) ~K~ P.S. my friends loved it so much they are going to make the same hat, but all in different colours!

My bit of Green

So I never managed to finish something yellow for April....... however I am going to be making up for that today! But onto green....... no it's not knit, but I did make it! It's a dress, inspired by a dress I saw on the Anthropology website. Made out of fabric my textiles teacher gave me, I think it's just fine for project spectrum!

Today I am going to make myself a hat like the one Ginny wore to the seccond task in GoF! Ever since I saw that hat I decided I HAD to make one! Then I discovered a fellow Craftster had already made up a pattern! So I can't wait to go and get yarn and cast on.

Spring organization

I think I have finally reached the point in my knitting life where I am actually experiencing stash overflow!! Now for most knitters, this has happend a long time ago. And they will probably laugh at my little stash, but for me, living in a room the size of a bathroom (no joke), my stash is starting to scare me.......... here it is from above, a slightly smaller that original FMB full to the brim with odd skein's of yarn. Look underneath, a pretty IKEA basket also full of yarn.

I have decided I need to take action. I just love IKEA, so when I stumbled uppon these baskets, I knew I needed them!!!

Aren't they cute? And perfect for knitting! (notice the needles in one hanging off the wall?) And they look like they have been croched, but they are made of plastic! Ingenious!! Yes, I will deffinatly be making a trip to IKEA this weekend. Oh, bag update! I finishe my knitting bag, and it's so pretty!!

Here is a matching notions bag: As for project spectrum, I have no clue what I am going to do. I kind of want to make a yellow/orange dress and maybe knit a belt or bracelet to go with it. What I really need is my mommy to take me to IKEA and the fabric store :D Except I think they are closed tomorrow so I may have to wait till Monday.......... I hope I can get these things this weekend! I need something to keep me sane......... ~K~ P.S. I decided to change my template to give it a brighter look for spring.

I needed something to kick my sorry butt back into knitting. So, I joined the project spectrum and made myself a pretty knitting bag to force myself to want to knit. I have no clue what to make for April, lets see, yellow and orange........... if it helps I had a dream that I bought yellow yarn and made a hat. Maybe I should........ well I promise to start updating my blog again........... I will start by posting pictures of my perdy pink knitting tote and whatever I decide to make for project spectrum.

Knitting Olyimpics

I don't know why, but I just did not feel like knitting. Sure, I finished a small projects *cough, icord, cough* but I did not live up to my set goal. Instead, I had to re-work what was a challenge to me and work around that. I tryed to finish a matching sock for my ipod to go with the icord, but things kept getting in the way. I am extremely proud to be part of such a global event, and I promise in 2010 I will be full steam ahead. The Olyimpics will be in my city, so because of that I need to give %110. So I promise, when 2010 rolls around, I will be there, with my knitting, watching some of the worlds best athelets compete, and cheering them on as I'm sure they would cheer me on with my knitting. Go Canada Go!!

Where do t-shirts go?

I am going insane. How is it possible to loose clothing in your own house?? How is it possible to loose two shirts that you last wore together, but not the third shirt you wore that day??(yes I layer). I have looked everywhere. My shirt drawr, under ware drawr, pant drawr. Laundry basket, washer and dryer, parents laundry basket, sisters laundry basket, other side of the basement (in case that cats have them??), spare dresser drawrs, closet, under bed...... i't killing me!! I just wore these shirts on sunday, then put them in my shirt drawr sunday night. I had already picked out clothing for the next day, so i never opend my drawr. Then when I look for it (the mauve cardigan) to wear to dance, it's gone! And the light pink polkadot button up? No where!! I don't get it, are there house elves stealing my clothing? It is some sick joke my mom is playing on me for not doing my laundry? What ever it is, tell it I want my shirt back!!!!

But I at least managed to finish my cross stitch project for school. Looky!!

On a sad not, I am totaly computer illiterate. I was trying to convert files in itunes that I ripped from audio book cds to the right format so that when you put it on your ipod, it shows up in audio books and you can book mark it. I have not done this since the begining of the month, so of course I had trouble. To make a confusing story short, I re-named the file without looking where it was so when I try and import it as the right file type into itunes, I have lost it. I most likely will have to re -rip all 17 cd's. Help!!

Happy Valentines day everyone! Hope you all got showered with love and chocolate. This year the only thing I cared about where my new shoes!! I woke up to them outside my bedroom door! Yay for surprises (well, half. I did pay for them!)

Yes, goodies are nice!! Ok, now onto the knitting! I decided to change my olyimpic project, I just did not want to cast on for shimmer :(. So instead I am going to knit a team Canada hat! I had wanted to make one during christmas, but we all know that didn't happen! So I will start charting my maple leafs and casting on as soon as I find some red yarn. I am looking for some Bernat Satin in red because I have leftover white and it's nice and soft for cheap acrylic. So in the mean time.......I have been sewing! I started sewing in school and have great plans! I need to start a skirt soon, and I'm sooo excited! Only problem, the wheather over here looks like it's going to take a turn for crazyness...... it has been sunny the last week and they are predicting below zero temperatures for the rest of the week! Looks like I will be using my olympic hat before my spring skirt! Oh well, maybe if I can finish my Clapotis is sewing class (hey, it's really called textiles!) then I can wear it as a scarf!!

So, because it's Valentines day, and my cat is soo cute, here is a greeting from her to you, with a new toy I made for her!!

The crafting continues.....

So I have lots of stuff to do this week! But its all fun. The first thing I have to show you is a cute t-shirt I stenciled this morning.

I got the stencile from Stencilry. Isn't it cute? I kind of want to stencil a heart at the top, but I'm not sure yet. What do you think??

Any ways, I have a lot more on the go. I have to finish my Clapotis (I'm so glad it can also be worn as a shawl and not just a scarf, I really wanna wear it!), finish the icord sleeve for my ipod earbuds, then make a zippered clutch (inspired by one I saw in Vancouver), and finally Teen Vogue's DIY. I usually hate them, but I have liked a few. The one at the moment is to take some rope and a white tank top, tie the rope into knots, sew it around the neck of the shirt, and hook the ends on to toggle buttons. It may not sound that great...... but I'll scan a picture from the magazine later and I think you will like it. Plus, I told my friend I would make her a case for her mini, and I bought a Pocky box to do so. Mmmm, that pocky was sooo good!

Plus, I need to figure out what fabric to buy for the Sew? I Knit! craft along. I found some cute floral stuff at WalMart that matched a shirt I have, but I am still undecided. Oh, and then I have to go back to school next week! See, I am really hoping to get a lot of crafting done this week to make up for my month long break (aka, January blues!). Wish me luck!!

Want these shoes!!! They are adorable!!! And they suite me, cause I love pink. Plus they will be my first Chucks. Now the only problem is finidng a store that carries them. I don't think they're out though, only on the website!! Help, if you know of a store that has them...... spill! If not I will have them shipped, but oooohhhh I want them before the 14th......... ok that's the end of my post.

Hello again. it's been a long time since I've posted. Blame it on finals. However, my only easy final, a dance performance, is over with and was sooo much fun!! Yes, I was a fairy in Snow White (instead of little animals we were fairys). We performed at an elementary school and they loved it! We had lots of fun, and now we can relax in the last 3 (*gasp*) days of school. Then I have a lovely math final. Wish me luck. I have not been knitting much in the new year so far. I made a cat toy, and that's about it. I worked 2 rows on my clap one weekend, but I was too sick to do more. I received some lovely hand painted merino (that I won for the holiday KAL, thanks again Alison!!) and now I think I have decided to knit a hat with it. I have also given up on the razor shell socks. They are lovely, and very lacy (which I LOVE), but I think they are too big. I just knit the size they are writen in, not bothering to check and see if they would fit (the pattern said a ladys medium, I'm an 8 so I considered that medium.....). I have left them on the needles, and I will probably unravle them later. I don't know what I'll do with the yarn....... if I feel like it I will alter the pattern. If not (the more likely choice), I will make some plain ankle socks. But I am very happy that I will have a week break from school so in that time I will finish my clap!!! Plus, I joined the Knitting Olypmics (who hasn't??) and will be casting on Shimmer. I have been meaning to knit this since november. I hope I can make it in the 16 days!!! Oh!, next semester I have textiles, so I can knit then! Ok, I'm very happy now :D. Speaking about courses, I need to figure out what I am going to take next year!! This is so stressful, I feel as if my future depends on whether I take the right classes in grade 12!! I'm torn between what I want to do. I would love an internship at a fashion magazine, but I don't know if I would want to write articles or "investigate" the up and comming fashons, or do photography ............... I was talking with my parents, and my mom wants me to work with children or old people. I'm sorry, but I get frustrated teaching people and I can only act like I like something for so long. Not as a long term job. AH! What to do??? Oh, and just the thing to make my day. I was trying on some jeans, and in Amerian Eagle the changing room doors close by them selves if left open. As I was closing the door, I guess I forgot about that, and I got my fingers closed in the door!! Now I have two little purple bruses on my fingers, and they are a bit swolen and still hurt. I wanted to scream but I couldn't, I could only swear in my head and jump around the changing room. Darn hand always getting in the way!! So, that's basicly what I have been up to. I promise some cute kitty pictures and actual knitting content on my next entry. happy knitting!! P.S., been listening to Knit Cast, Cast On, Knitting News cast, and Muggle Cast on the pod.

Bouncing off the wall..... seriously!!

Today has been a very good day!! At first it seemd glum, another boring rainy day at school, with the stree of homework deadlines and many other commitments. However, it all got better after 3:00. My replacemeant headphones (because the cats chewed on them ...... grr) finaly arrived today when someone was home to sign for the package. Then my dad surprised me with the iSee nano case I had desperatly tryed to get on the weekend, but we were all so busy that it got forgoten. As I danced around (and yes took pictures!!) I was on my way to a great evening. Here is my dream case:

P.S. It has a really nifty little plastic thingy on the back that lets you loop the headphones around so it makes a lanyard! Now I can knit and listen to my knitting podcast, that I absolutly love!!! Plus, I worked my butt off after school and have finished half this nioghts homework, which is good cause it's hard to have to work on the computer and not be distracted my knitting blogs and such............................... Then I had a lighbulb moment. Alison was going to draw the names this weekend for the prizes from the holiday KAL!! I zoomed over to her blog (as fast as you can zoom on my computer, which is a bit slow...) and guess what?? I won some beautiful blue handpainted yarn!! I am soooo excited! My first handpainted yarn and first prize won that is knitting related! I think this yarn will get me out of my post-christmas knitting blues. And the yarn is blue, tee hee hee. I have no clue what I am going to make, but I'm sure some special pattern will find me. So yes, today has been just what I needed to boost my spirits to get me through the rest of this week, and possibly the semester. Wish me luck, in two weeks I have to perform with my dance class our presentation of Snow White! eeeee, must go practice with ipod...............................

Another year, another diary....................... no I wont go all Bridget Jones on you, but I just had to say that!! I have a confession to make. Instead of the planned fuzzy feet I was going to knit, I decided to make the French Market Bag instead. I had been wanting to make the FMB for a long time, and I had a moment where it all of a sudden clicked. The yarn I had was the right gauge, maybe not quite enough, but I was up for a challenge. So thats what happend. A few days later and I had myself a bag!! It was quite an experience felting. I have a new front loader (!!!) and I read on the knitty forums that people suggested puting the item to be felted in a zippered pillowcase. We had no pillowcases the zipped, let alone close so I put the bag in a regular one. It came out, but it seemed to have felted fine without the pillowcase!!! One other, feature, of the bag is the very short handels. I knit them probably shorter that suggested length because I was running out of yarn, and I thought they would stretch like the belt part of Hipster. They didn't, but it's not too bad. Overall I am happy with the bag. Another confession of mine, I left my digital camera at the friends house I was at for a new years party, so I don't have a picture of the FMB. The before, during, and after felting pictures are still on the camera! So for now I promise I will put the pictures up later!! Karen

One year ago tonight........

I started my first pair of socks. This was the most profound moment in my new knitting career. The first time I ever encountered dpn's!! Yes, after the socks I could no longer stick to just scarves! I was daring to try new and wonderful things! Last year, there were many firsts for me in knitting. First knitting book, SnB Nation. First yarn store I visited, Knit n' Stitch in West Vancouver. Heck, seccond ayrn store I visited was Urban Yarns in Vancouver and that was on Canada Day, when I bought the Cascade Fixation for my tankini! First pair of socks finished, who knows when but I was very proud. First wearable thing I knit, Asana. First FO out of natural fibre (yarn and mohair blend), Hipster. So many more! This has been a very productive knitting year! I have countless FO's, many stories and many dreams. Here is to another year of knitting, be it firsts or just new discoveries. Well I hope everyone had a magical christmas! I for one had a great time! Dinner with family, watching the kittens go crazy with wrapping paper............ ah what fun! My favorit gifts include, Weekend knitting (!!!), Gap ballet flats, and a cat book. I am so excited about weekend knitting, I love that book! More about christmas later, what about boxingday??? Well, I braved the crowds with my friend, all for one reason. An iPod nano. Yes, we managed to find two! After running to three stores, we endedup at Future Shop and they had tones!! They even had a line especially for ipods! And what's better than that? We got a free gift card for $20 worth of itunes songs! Woot! So I spent all of yesterday loading it with songs and playing with it. I love it :D. And today I made ti a case! Not a knit one, yet. I used some faux leather and made it a little case. nothing to fancy, but untill I get the hard plastic one that I want this will have to do!

So it's almost christmas. Wow. I have been so busy, and have a very sadly decorated house, that it doesn't feel like christmas. I'm sure it will on the 25th, but man it sucks not having a tree!! Of course, it's all for our little kittys. they, by the way, seem to be sleeping non stop these days. Leading up to a busy day of running around in wrapping paper? Who knows. On the knitting front, I am sooooo almost done! just finish one hat, that is over 50% and I'm done! Wahoo! I even blocked my friends scarf. that was an, interesting experience........(I did nothing wrong........... well, at least too wrong) You wanna see?

Tada! A finished set, perfect for my friend. We are planning on giving our gifts on christmas eve, so that will be fun!!

As for other projects, I haven't had time! But I promise I will finish one project for myself! I just don't know what yet.... ah well.

One thing I am excited about is the idea of boxing day. Only the idea, because I don't know fi I will have money for what I want untill christmas day. I am saving for an iPod nano, and so far I have $170. I am hoping withe christmas money (usually a little over $100) I will have enough. if not, I will wait untill the end of january, because then I will have enough for the nano and a good case. I have been researching the nano alot to prepare myself for it. While doing that I found a really nifty case that i fell in love with. It's called the isee nano case. It is a clear hard plastic case that snaps on around the iPod, and protects the screen. It also has a thing that you can wrap the headphones around to make them shorter or into a lanyard. plus it has a clip. I love it, good protection and multi purpose. Of course, i can't seem to find one in canada, but I haven't checked ebay yet....

So anyways, have a happy holiday with family and friends, enjoy watching them open your many hours of love in a simple hand knit item, and stuff yourself full of goodies!!

I think I finally deserve it! After a terrible week of tests (still have one tomorrow), and literally dragging myself out of bed every morning, to class, where I had no fun and the week just became more stressful everyday. Yes, it is time for christmas break!!! All I have left to do for christmas gifts is knit ONE more hat and I'm done! Well then there is the wrapping, but that part is fun!! I have some really cool take-out box style boxes to wrap things in, and I have great plans on how to decorate them (they are plain white) and its just gonna be fun next week! No freaking out about trying to do last min. shopping they day before you have to give some one their gift (last year I was sewing my friends gift up until the min. we had to leave!!). Yes, I can enjoy the holidays. Baking, knitting for myself, playing with my cats, decorating my room (because we can't have a full sized tree, to dangerous with two kitten!), doing things with my friends, visting family....... ah, I can hardly wait! Just have to get through one more early wake up and a math test, then I'm good to go! So on the knitting front, I might as well show you the two hats I finished tonight. And let me tell you, it was not exactly the fun experience I had hope for........ Started hat #1 on tues., to get it done for a friend asap so she could hopefully pay me before christmas break....... finished wed. Showed to her on thurs., she thought it was too big...... so luckly I had started a smaller size for a friend..... gasp! not enough yarn to BO! So unravel a row of the bigger one to borrow some yarn... then about 10 st away from finishing the seccond one I ran out of yarn..... so I used some from my stash, the slight colour difference is not too noticeable.... so I may make a flower in the diff. white yarn to add to the hat.... but yes, be careful when you knit hats! In the end, they do look nice. And I tell yah, they'd better like these darn'd hats! (ok, to lazy to upload again, go to cover your head KAL to see a picture, it's really pretty!) First thing I am going to finish after the holiday knits are done? Why my clap!! All I have to do is some math to figure out when to dec. and I'm good! I'm happy, it goes so nicely with my red pea coat. Then my Gryffindor mitts, then my socks, and finally shimmer! However, I am hoping to fit a hat for myself in there.......... I really like this hat that they selling at The Bay for the olympics, it is white with maple leafs and red stripes. I could easily modify the pattern, I really don't want to spen $30 on a hat that I can make for about $6!!! wish me luck................ Merry Friday to you!! -Karen

I am sooo excited, five more days of school!!! I deffinatly need this break, I am always waking up 20 min. late in the morning!!! Plus I will have more time to finish gifts.... but I have made progress! I am 5 out of 7 :D. Go check out the hand knitted gifts KAL to see a picture of my FO's. Unfortunatly, to get my christmas knitting done, I have given up knitting for myself. The reason why I was procrastinating was because I didn't want to knit gifts in school, but I wanted to knit. Then on the weekend I didn't feel liek knitting. And I was sick... and blah blah blah. So now that I am full steam ahead on these gifts, and are so close to being done, I am not going to risk that! Plus I have used 2/3 skeins for my clap. and I need to do some math to see when I should start dec. so I may put that off for a while..... On the plus side, as soon as my gifts are done, I have a whole whack of projects to knit!! I ahve my clap to finish, my razor shell socks, my Gryffindor mittens, and after all that I can finalyl start shimmer! I will have a lot of hand knits to wer back to school in Jan. And if I don't finish, well I'll have something to do!! So, since I am not posting any knitting pictures, I promise so post some cute kitty pictures on my next post. they are growing so fast :D. -Karen

Months, and I mean MONTHS ago, I ordered free fun fur from Bernat. It finally came today! It is very brown and sparkely. What to do... what to do?? The only ideas i have are: - teddy bears - hedgehogs - cat toys Would it be safe to give to a cat? I think my mommy would kill me if they ate any............. lets say no......... What would you do with brown sparkely fun fur??? In other news, no progress on christma gifts *cough*. Don't worry, they don't know what I planned on doing ..... and if I don't finish I can get them somthing else, no biggy. As you can see I am in denial. Thats why I'm blogging, insted of finishing a memoir about myself................ Shhh! BAH! The snow is slushy, and I don't wanna knit christmas gifts........ I need chocolate........

Before I go into detail about the fabulous party last night, let me show you what I woke up to!

SNOW! There is hope! Seeing as we usually don't get snow untill January, there is hope for a snowy holiday! :D Ok, now to the party!! We started the night off by going to this amazing little greek restaurante by the river. It had an amazing veiw of the river, with the bridge all lit up and boats with christmas lights floating by........very chic. I opted for the Chicken Souvlaki (sp??). And to top it all off, at the end of our dinner there was a belly dancer! It was for another party, but you could hear the music all over the restaurante! Then home for dessert.

My friend had dedicated all friday to this cake. Two cake mixes, three pans, and a sh*t load of iceing! In the end, we ended up with a three tiered cake! Oh my, it was amazing! And so yummy! They used special iceing that is not too sweet and is airy so you don't mind eating alot of it! There was a sugar rose on top, and my friend said it looked like a cake in one of those splenda commercials! To go with this fancy cake we had fancy drinks. They remind me of Knit and Tonic, because of the colours. It was really sparkeling pink lemmonaid with fruit on sticks, but in martini glasses. We had such a good time :D.

Finally, we watched The United States of Leland. It was an interesting movie, a bit confusing, and sad, but all around good. We all enjoyed pouring out of our skirts/dresses into comfy pants so our stomach could expand from all the good food! I am so happy for my friend, she had a very sweet party and now we are all (except one) 16! The funny thing is, I didn't feel 16 untill this party. My party was so hecktic and unplanned and deffinatly not sweet. Now I feel like a lady (lol, *blush*).

So about my knitting, my friend absolutly LOVED the Kitty hat! She wore it practicly all night. I am so happy she likes it, and everyone was so amazed (you only used sticks and yarn???) so I think I may have some more orders on the way.

Christmas knitting, well hasn't done much. I need to return the book to the library soon, so I want to try and renew it. GAH! Plus I have to buy 2 more birthday gifts!!! I think this calls for a trip to the mall!!! Clapotis is still moving along well. I am going to have to figure out how much of the last ball to use before I decrease soon. I may not get all 12 repeats, but I want to get as many as I can. This will require some brain power, so best to do it in the middle of the day. But I absolutly love her! - The sweetest 16 year old in my family :P

I have quietly been knitting througought this week. I have dropped 7 sts on my Clapotis :D. I have only the ears of the kittyville hat to knit. Then I plan to finish 2 christmas gifts to post on the Christmas Gift KAL. I'm getting there! No pictures till later. My friend is having a fancy b-day party tomorrow night, so there will deff. be pictures from that. We are dressing up all fancy and going out for greek! Plus I will have some FO's to show you. This weekend shot by like a bullet! Friday night, mopeing over NOT going to GoF, so i ripped out Clpaotis and had some fun winding yarn (yah right). All in all, an ok night. Sat, wake up, get Center Stage soundtrack frr dance project (more on that on sunday), and then go and help out at grandma's fall fair. I totally forgot I said I would help, and I couldn't say no on such short notice. So 3 hours of selling dolls. Not too bad, since I snuck some Clap. knitting in. Then home, and I get a call to please come babysit my little boy. I said yes, cause I haven't for a while and I missed the $$. What an adorable little boy! He loved me, did not cry, played with me, had his bottle and went to sleep! Amazing!! But it was late...... Sun, wake up @ 7 after coming home @ 12 and hop the skytrain to........ GoF! I finally saw it! With family and friends. Let me tell you, SPOILERS AHEAD!!!.............. ok, I love it! I could not stop staring at the knit wears! I love Ginny's hat in the seccond task. orange with multi coloured bobbles and some purling inbetween. I tell yah, as soon as it comes out on dvd I am going to pause it, and make up a pattern! As long as I learn how to make bobbles I'm set! And Fred & Georges hats! Beautiful! White and I think blue, so detailed! And Ron had a different sweater! It looked like a sued letter "R" sewn on and with buttons on the shoulders. I love it, but will make a traditional Weasley for myself. Oh, and the move was good. It was good as a movie, not as a representation of the book. They cut alot, and the school year was basicly the tournament, nothing eles, but for me it is the best movie so far!!! It was really scary, and I was crying alot! When Harry comes back with Cedric's body, oh my I was crying and shaking and trying to muffle it in my scarf :'(. But my friend was lucky, she had her boyfriend to hug in scary parts, I hid behind my scarf! But yes, CAN'T wait for the dvd!!!!!!!!! (p.s. besides my scarf and my seccond one I lent to my friend there were no ther scarves. we rock!) Ok, still sunday, I go home, do some homework then go over to a friends house to work on a dance project. We got more done in 1.5 hours than we did like the 3 hours we had last week! We went from having the chorus and one verese of a song choreographed to the whole song done! Can't wait to get it over with! Then I come home, have dinner, SHOWER, and do more homework. That is where I am now, doing home work.... j\k I have most of it done anyways. Oh, and I went shopping on the way home. Starbucks has really cute mini travel mugs, like half size of the ones you can reg. buy and it has cute reindeer on it! And I got a t-shirt and socks on sale. Wheew, my hands hurt! Ok, no pictures @ the moment cause I wanted a quick update, maybe some time during the week I will have time, but now just imagine me dancing around with my clapotis and home work.... oh my. Don't even ask about christmas gifts, gah!! -Karen

I hate being sick

I feel like crap. My throat hurts all the time, even more when I swallow. But amazingly I feel better today than yesterday. I was practicly falling asleep in class. No work was done. So now all I have is a sore throat that I hope will go away. But now that I feel better I can knit! My plan is to finish up all projects on my needles (christmas gifts) and the kitty hat for my friend, so I can pay all my attention to Clapotis. She is crying out to me. I just got a red pea coat and she goes beautifully with it. So I need to knit really quickly and get everything done now! I am progressing well with the kitty hat, it's really simple. And I am going to finish another pair of fingerless mittens and then move onto the face cloth. Here is an interesting picture of the hat...

What? It's the only thing I could think of to model it on. theres a towel on my head!

About that blue and orange Gap sweater? Well, it did not want to unravel itself so I could graft it together nicely, so I decided to just sew the cuff to the arm. It doesn't look too bad, and now all I need to do is make the body more fitted and its done!!

Here it is mid way through so you can see the difference in the arm lenght. As you can see the cats have a taste for natural fibres. Try sewing this with a cat in your lap!!!

And here is the finished product. I think it looks nice. Can't wait to finish it and wear it!

And while I was surfing the tv the other day, look what I found!

Unfortunatly the tv was acting up so I did not get to watch it, but it makes me happy to know that I could watch knitty gritty! I just need to find out when it's on again.

And finally, I have my clogs! they will make me happy once they are sprayed and I can wear them. Thats why they have plastic bags in them.

So I'm off to knit. I really want to get everything done. GOF in 2 days!!!! I know I won't get the mittens done......... but who cares when you have a scarf? oh well, I'll have them for christmas. Cheers.

Weekend projects

I'm so excited!!!! This is going to be such a fun weekend!! So today I went to Value Village with some friends and we found this cool sweater. It reminds me of Julias Clemantine(sp?), go look on her blog if you don't know what I mean (mind of winter). Its blue and orange striped, from the gap (there is so much stuff from the gap at Value Village!). It's too big, and my friend thought it was itchy (cause it's mostly wool). I was going to make a felted bag out of it...... but I like it so much!! I am going to make the sleves shorter(it is 3/4 length but I want to make it short sleve-ish), and make the body more fitted(it's a Medium and I usually wear XS-S at The Gap). Yay! I hope my plan works, I want to cut the sleve and graft the ribbed cuff to it. I hope it works, cause it would look weird with a seam if I just sewed it. Wish me luck that I can manage that!! My friend and I also got really pretty matching tea cups. The cups are chocolate brown and the saucer is white with chocolate brown print on it, kinda like wall paper.We are going to sip hot chocolate in them together tomorrow after more shopping. Yes, I finally found clogs like the ones I saw in the U.S. Walmart. They are pink and don't have the stuff around it...(yah I don't know what to call the stuff, go back and look at the picture). So I shall buy them, and my friend wants to pick out yarn for the kitty ville hat she is paying me to make. And finally I want to look for a nice warm pea coat. I love shopping!

Ok, so onto knitting. My razor shell socks are going along fine now after I ripped them out once. They are very pretty. Look at the sock it to me! KAL cause I will post a picture there. Other projects on the go are my christmas pressies! I am going to join Alisons christmas gift KAL and post my pictures there. So far I have one thing done. But 2 on the needles and others paitently waiting. However, with two people wanting me to knit them hats that they will pay for, the chirtmas gifts are sitting on the side line. I plan to knit the hats a.s.a.p. so I can have money to buy more christmas gifts if I need to. And my shimmer shrug will be put aside untill christmas vacation when I am done all my knit gifts. I hope "IT" dosen't happen to me!!!

Yay, fun weekend!! I had a minimal ammout of homework (which I am paying for by having lots this week), so I had LOTS of time to knit!! It started on friday when I bought some yarn for christmas pressies!! I just signed out Weekend Knitting from the library and I absolutly love it!! WARNING!!: If you are my friends, stop reading now!!!!!!!! ............................... Ok, if your not gone, thats to bad! What I am knitting: -Fingerless mittens, I adore this pattern and am deffinatly making some for myself when holiday knitting is over - flower face cloth - super mittens other holiday knits in general: -Crazy Aunte Purl's magical scarf - socks And I am still debating about other patterns for other people. In other knitting news, I have fallen in love with a pattern!! Mac & Me yoga socks. Their really cool, and I so want to knit them for dance class. There like short leg warmers morphed with leggings cause they have that loop that goes over you foot to keep them on. They look so comfy!! Also, I am going to rip out Clapotis. But untill I get the courage, and the time to figure out the math (yah, I have decided theres math to figure out how the heck I am going to do this), I am knitting other projects. I am trying to finish my seccond HP house mitten for the 18th, but tis a bit boring. I think I have SMS, Seccond Mitten Syndrome. So to keep me on my toes, i am knitting socks. The prettyest, girlyest socks ever! There the Razor Shall socks, in a light pink. They are lacey and cool looking. It really makes me want to knit 1930 from Knitty so i can lounge around in them and feel sexy. Ha ha ha............... OH! The fibre festival, right. That was also part of my weekend. It was alot of fun. I got to spin for my first time! this nice lady was spinning and I was watching cause ive never seen that in person before. She was like, do you want to try?? Yeah!! It was thrilling, very addictive, and a drop spindle is now on my christmas wish list :D. There was also Opal sock yarn :O, kool aid roving, and lots of hand knit items for sale. I am deffinatly going next year!! Then after that my mommie and me did a yarn shop hop. Basicly, we went to two yarn stores, and I came home with a circular needle, soome dpns, and the pink sock yarn. At the seccond one, my favorit, I helped a lady graft her toe of her sock together, and we were all chatting and having a good time. I love the knitting community, so much fun!! Dilema

I have myself in a pickle. To frog or not to frog?? Heres the sitch', I am half way through my Clapotis, but have used 2/3 skeins of yarn. I called the store where I bought it, they don't have the right colour b/c I bought the last 3 skeins. I called several yarn stores and they don't even carry the same brand! So what do I do? Search the planet for this yarn(that isn't even on the yarn brands website!!), paying whatever the cost? Or frog it, and make the width short? We all know choise #2 is the most likely, but it's the most heart breaking! I am half way through. Waaaaaaaa!! Please, fellow bloggers, if you see Schoeller Stahl Lerici Fein Color, in colour 939(do not care about dye lot here, I'm desperate!), PLEASE Please please, tell me! I am very deperate. I know, I should have actually calculated and realised when they had no more yarn to choose another colour, but I am naieve. I truly thought I could make it work. I have underestemated the yarn gods. Please forgive me, I really want to find some nice yarn at that fibre festival on sat............. So, thankyou for reading. Bare with me. I'm so glad I have a bag full of chocolate. -Karen

I solved my semi crisis with hipster. Yes, I endedup being lazy and swed the pocket smaller and cutting off some exess. It's not too bad now. I wore it today and my friends loved it. But if you want me to knit one, expect it to cost lots of $$! Here are some pictures of the felting, note the giant blob at the side, that is the pocket stretched way to big.

In other knitting news, the next two projects soon to be on the needles (after my clapotis, which by the way plays a starring role with me in the yearbook picture of my schools knitting club!): Knittys Fuzzy Feet and Shimmer. I am going to use my seccond skein of roasted coffe and partial skein of Victorian pink leftover from Hipster to make some yummy fuzzy feet(alas, my plan to make a hipster and sell it has been foild by my own cold feet). However, depending on how long my christmas gift list of stuff I hope to knit gets, I may have to give them up. That is a last resort. I want some fuzzy feet! Yes, i have established I am a selfish knitter................ As for Shimmer, I am going to use some pretty verigated yarn I got for my birthday. Shown here with the pink mary-jane style slippers & gum i got for a b-day gift last weekend.

I felted my hipster. My baby. The yarn i waited almost a month for. $15 for this bag. Many hours enjoyed knitting it. Then it goes into the washing machine. It is mangled. It looks like a drowned rat. The pouch/pocket of it stretched weirdly and the flap wont budge if I try to stretch it to make them the same size. It is hairy. I want to cry. Do I have any other option besides cutting the pouch and sewing it up????? Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

I have lots to tell you but not enough time to do it. Friday night: parrrtaaay!!!! My friend and i that share close birthdates decided to have a combined birthday party. We had lots of fun, 9 girls + 2 kittens + cake = parents staying far away. So the just of it is, we had lots of laughs, ate cake, opend presents and hade a great night. Pictures will come but that may take a few hours........ Some of my favorit gifts include a hand made charm necklace from my bf, really pretty purple pink verigated yarn (what to do? I'm thinking hat & gloves, or another clapotis?), Chapters gift certificate(got the seccond yarn harlot book!), the most comfortable socks not hand knit, really yummy smelling soap& candles, and a miniature ballerina to hang up in my room. This weekend has been so busy, what with a project due monday (I'm over half done, wheeee!), my goal to finish hipster for monday (picture day for the knitting club and I wanna show it off), and an ever growing list of promises. I have finally made a VCD of pictures to pass around to all my friends, and I am at the point in Clapoist where I get to drop sts(whoopieee!). And my friend got some really nice smelling hand lotion that works great (moisturises for a long time and is not greasy!!) so I have to go to the mall and get some.......... And I have my haloween costume! I went to this really good sewing shop and got a plastic thingy that is half of a giant battery to tie onto the front of yourself. I am going to wear all black and tease my hair to look like I was electricuted ;). It's gonna be a great monday, if only I get everything done!! Sorry if thei is rushed, spelt wrong or just plain weird. I really wish I had a laptop so I could write blog entries while in the living room doing who knows what. Blog, what Blog?

Don't worry, I haven't purposly been avoiding my blog! I'm to darn busy with school back in session. Math tests, projects, performances, it's all very hecktic. But alas, a no homework night!! Amazing! On the knitting front, all I need to do is finish the belt and I am ready to felt Hipster! I hope to do it over the weekend, as well as a project......... My Clapotis is rolling now that I took it apart about 3 times. I am just about to start the straight section, time to drop stitches baby! Here is a picture of her one repeat before that point.

As for the kitty front, we brought number 2 home on monday! My sister's little male black kitty. It took a while for them to get used to eachother, but now they are running around the house and it sounds like horses! Heres a really cute picture of Suzie in my back pack!

Another note on my birthday.... prezzies! And more will come tomorrow at my (late) combined party with my friend that was born one year and one week before me. We are going to have so much fun! Pictures to follow........

(Gift from a BF, really pretty argyle sweater and Todd bar! Yummy!!!!!!) So plans for the weekend: -Finish school project!!! -Finish hipster!! -Get Halloween costume! -Watch Centre Stage (another b-day prezzie!) One more thing..... today I got this really cool Dove travel Kit, for $5! It has little bottles(basicly samples) of body wash, face wash, deoderant and soap. It all smells good and now I am in love with their body wash! I smell so nice!

Apparently I don't, as my dad pointed out. "Aren't you supposed to knit so there are no holes?", "Yes dad, but I just did it wrong" "well why do you take it out?" "because I DON'T WANT TO". Yes, I have finally got back on track with the knitting! And I have two projects on the go! I finally got needles for hipster (*shudder*, terrible experience, involving crying but lets forget about that...) and it's a really quick knit! Already after knitting one hour (not including the 3 times I ripped it out, never liked how I started it) I am done the initial and a few rows away from ending the flap and heading on to the actual bag. can't wait to felt, it will be my first project!!

What's the seccond project? Why my Clapotis :D. I found some nice verigated yarn in pastel colours. It's not fall colours, but I hope it looks nice (and hey thats just another reason to make myself a seccond one!!). If not I think I will cry untill my room is full of tears :(.

Get this, I was out at an LYS and looky what I found!

A fibre festival! Woot! It may not be Rhineback, but it's as close as I can get for now! I'm sooo excited! And another cool thing, this yarn store had an angora bunny on display! They are so lucky! He is too cute, and is must be some nice yarn they can spin from what he sheds :D.

Check out this article in the newspaper me mommy found. That sounds like such a cool place to live!

One last thing, I wanted to try out making a twisted hank after I saw some discussion on how to do it on the Knitty Coffeeshop. So I experimented with leftover yarn and my bullitin board! I think I get the hang of this...

So that was my day, I hope to finish Hipster tomorrow so I can get it out of the way before school starts so i only have one project on the go. Wish me luck!

It seems we were a bit mistaken about our kitty. She was infact a SHE, not a he! Oh well, we had a good laugh and now we have a new name. Suzie! She had a good night, slept in an old doll house. Sooo cute. She is interested in everything, including my feet! So I decided to have a photo shoot with her and my Socktoberfest socks!

Hmm, what are these? Well, I must check them out! Lets see here.......

And this one is just adorable. My old kitty loved playing with pens and pencils. Yes, she fits in great at our house.

Knitting plans. Well, kind of put on hold till I can get to the yarn store! At least I have Suzie to keep me busy. Then mom tryed to knit last night, Suzie was just amazed by the moving needles and wanted to chew on them. I don't know if she likes yarn yet, but if she does she can gladly have the acrylic while I knit with the good stuff. Not that I don't mind some acrylic, it's just I don't want her to ruin my projects and $$ spent on fancy yarn when she can get just as much enjoyment out of free stuff.

There is still a bit of birthday cake left, must go rescue it from the fridge :D.

Today is a great day, a day I will always remember. Not because of the great birthday gifts, or the cake, or the weather. Today is the day we brought home our new baby, a Siamese kitten!!! I am extatic! After many months we finally have a cat in the house again. And whats better that a kitten? Two! My sister is bringing hers home soon so they can be friends. I can't wait!! So here is the long awaited photo shoot! Isn't he beautiful? Right now he is sitting on my lap. Such a lovely kitty! He is very bouncy though, and I'm not use to that because my last cat was very calm and hardly moved. It's like having a two year old in the house!! However, he needs a name. We have no clue! Something unique, but not weird. He is such a nice kitty. Any suggestions are welcome, and if the family likes you might get the honour of naming our kitty!

Now onto birthday loot :D.

From mom and dad, the wrap sweater I wanted, and a ballet slipper necklace! I love it, the sweater is so warm!

DS got me a great gift, both Bridget Jones movies! It's the perfect way to spend the day, curled up with a good movie and some knitting! And chocolate is nice :D.

Granny got me the coolest quilting book, and yarn money :D.

And my dear friend gave me a coaster with my name on it (and I fit the discription perfectly!), a key chain with my family crest, and a really yummy looking lolly pop!!

And finally, my cards. I love the wizard one, it's all sparkely! And of course, kitty cards!

So that was my day, I hope to go to a LYS on thursday to get my needles for hipster and yarn for clapotis. I may even pick up some yarn for a kittypi :D.

I'm back! And I come with yarn!! Today was lots of fun, but I had to get up at an unhuman hour. It was ok though, because I got to eat Pumpkin pancakes!! Then a nice sleep and what do you know, were there? The mitten and I enjoyed looking around at vintage dolls and toys, while being hounded by people to buy buy buy! I did make it out of there, and I had quite and adventure in WalMart. I have never in my life been to a WalMart Supercenter, untill today. Man, those things are massive! everything you could think of. Even fresh food! that amazed me. But my time was well spent in the shoe section. I fell in love, but had to leave them behind. I am hoping I can find them up here, if I do I will be extremly happy. I present to you, the most comfortable clogs that would be perfect for showing off freshly knitted socks. Just look at them, ahhhhhhh............... I am considering going to every WalMart withing reasonable distance to find them. I had no luck on their web site. Please please please be in a store near me!!!! So, today was the day, I have my yarn for Hipster!!!! It is beautiful! And sooooo soft. I couldn't stop fondeling and hugging it. I can't wait to knit with this stuff. I am going to have lots of fun with any leftovers. Weasley update: after the, er, problem with the first mitten (aka giant mitten), I started again with different yarn and made a Gryffindor coloured mitten. It worked out much better. Now all I need to do is buy more red yarn and I have myself some mittens! Then I will eventually get to Ravencalw mittens, after Hipster is done, and my clapotis, and christmas presents. Ooohhh, I'm getting scared already!! (note: due to technical difficulty, aka blogger is ARSING UP AGAIN and not letting me post a picture of my mitten, it will have to wait untill I no longer want to kill my computer)

The sun came out today so I took the oportunity to have a mini photo shoot. Can you spot the socks?

So what is that secret project I told you about yesterday? Well I had planned on making myself some super duper Hogwarts house mittens, but worsted weight yarn + pattern for not worsted weight yarn + me not adjusting the pattern = GIANT MITTENS!!

A day well spent

Yes, not only did I finish a sock today (!!!!) but I made a dent in the math homework I was given before the strike. Went to the library so I could work with some friends and actually do the home work, because at home there are way to many distractions. But near the end i got bored, so I pulled out my sock. My studdy buddy was a bit scare at first. She was like "that looks dangerous!". Never thought of sock knitting as dangerous, but you never know................... So here is the sock, er, "helping" me with math.

Does it look scared to you? Any ways, after that I left for the mall to get a little last min. addition to my friends birthday gift. So what do I find at WallMart? these cool looking packages of yarn to support breast cancer. It comes with 2 skeins of light pink Lion brand fun fur, hot pink size 10 plastic straight knitting needles, and instructions to knit a scarf. I think it's cool, and I love the pink. But I don't know what I'd actually do with it if I bought it. The only thing I could think of is to knit something with it and donate it/sell it for breast cancer funds. So if anyone is interested in any of that, check your local Walmart for those kits.

Yes, so that was my day. I have one finished sock that I have to seam the toes up so I will start the seccond one soon (maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow). So untill then, you will have to wait for another interesting sock shot.

Why I love October........

Yes, October is my favorit month. I even made a list of why I love it so much! 1. The great fall weather, just cold enough for a sweater. Plus the leaves are starting to turn wonderful colours of yellow orange and brown. Beautiful! 2. Thanksgiving (yeah I'm Canadian!!), turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie! yummy.... 3. One of my best friends birthdays! and coincidentaly, a week before mine! 4. My birthday!! (hoping for some yarn) 5. Socktober fest!! I heart socks!! 6. Haloween specials (like the simpsons!) 7. Haloween, dressing up and having all the bite size candy you can eat (although that may not be wise....) As you can see, I love October! But now onto knitting!! My socktober fest socks are on their way, a jumble of leftover sock yarn, that promise and interesting pair of socks! Today I took them on an adventure, to the movies! We saw the wallace and Gromit movie, and I'm surprised how similar I am to Wallace and Gromit! I love cheese and knitting, so I absolutly loved the movie! Yes, a good time was had by all. I even managed to get a picture of the sock enjoying its ride on the skytrain.

Earlyer today the sock was enjoying the burst of sunlight we had. I'm really sad it's not going to last, but this sock is meant for the cold days that are to come, so it better get used to it.

Yes, once again I have caught the sock bug!! I decided to join the socktoberfest to finally use up some leftover sock yarn (and I'm hoping for either sock yarn or a yarn store gift certificate for my birthday!! hint hint). So here is my sock drawer, with all three pairs of knitted socks that I own (minus one pair that was given to DS for her birthday).

Notice the stratigicly placed sock yarn. Yes, aren't they beautiful? Ok, from the top clockwise, we have the summer memories socks (oh I remember just how warm it was when i was knitting thse, grr), leftover yarn from them and my sisters socks, first pair of socks ever in primary colours (tee hee I feel like a little kid), fixations socks (those were so much fun to knit, I love fixation!), and at the top we have leftover primary colour sock yarn and fixation. Woot! Socks!!

I think I want to start some socks in the grayish yarn and have primary coloured heels. What do you think? I may also join Katies Sock Scrap Swap, it would be pretty cool to get some new sock yarn. but I'm so impatient and I want to knit something now!!! Oh well, off I go with some sock yarn....

Today I made lip gloss. I am very proud of this lip gloss. I needed an idea for a friends birthday, and while looking on Craftster in the gift idea posts, I decided I should make some lip gloss! I had trouble finding containers at Michales (grr), so I gave up and used old mint and glitter containers. I used the tutorial for chocolate lip gloss, say it with me now, mmmmmm!!! So far they are cooling in the fridge, and boy do they smell good! I already have plans to use some old lipgloss for colour in a new batch of gloss. it's really simple, vaseline or beeswax, whatever you prefer, colour, flavor and a container. I am also decorating a lable for it. This was such a fun day!! (edit: here is the finished product! they are soft, and it reminds me of this chocolate lip balm you can buy at Lush, it's in a whiped mousse form)

I also plan to try this by melting chocolate chips, to see if it is more of an intense chocolate flavor. And I found some Cristal Light individual juice mix packages from the summer in raspberry so I will try that to! Yummy!!

The only good thing about Michales today was that they had cute blank notecards with knitting girls on them!! Ive seen other people get them from their sp's. They have a black shadow of a girl holding some sort of knitted item. Too cute! Can't wait to use them!! -mmmmm, chocolate

Thats right, I'm back to my blog being all about knitting. I whiped up a temporary arm warmer (the seccond to be completed tomorrow) tonight and tomorrow I will start on some longer ones out of leftover fixation yran (in yummy red and purple). These are temporary b/c they are short and birght, and a made up pattern. I want some nice are warmers, but these will have to do at the moment. It has been getting really cold in the morning, so these are warmers will sure be used!!!

Yarn: leftover Lerici Feine and Berger de France Ideal, in orange and blue.

Pattern: k2 p2 ribbing and stockinette st. knit flat, sides sewn up.

In other news, starting to panic about what to get my friend for her quickly approaching birthday. Help!

Wow, two posts in a matter of hours!! Well, I just had to write something down. I have finally jumped on the band wagon *jump* and have decided to make a clapotis!! After admiring so many in different colours, and been wanting a shawl/bolero/shrug/caplet that I knit myself for so long, I decided the Clapotis pattern was for me. For one, I can find substitute yarn close to home. And I get to learn new knitting skills. And yes, I will be the first person (to my knowledge) in my school with one. Whoopiee!!! *does a happy dance* Now all I have to do is decide on a colour ........ hmmmmmm

Thats right. If you don't want to read an entrie ranting about whatnot, turn away now!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, I assume most people are gone, but what ever. I got my camera back today. very excited to take pictures. But they said they didn't fix it, that there was nothing wrong. Basicly that I am stupid and have wasted their time. But I KNOW there is a problem with my camera. Not only has it deleted my pictures but my dads too. Were not both crazy. So I have to wait for it to delete my pictures again (this time I'm sure i will cry) so the I can send it back AGAIN, being separated from it for over 2 weeks, and then they still might send it back. Can't they just replace it now?????? Save me the trouble. Grrrrrrrrr. So any ways, untill it craps out on me again, you will have some more colourful posts, showing all the projects I have worked on since the absence of the camera. Not tonight though, got to take some pictures in "day light" (because it is grey skys out). Night!

I love the Harry Potter series 6. I have the american special addition of OotP(if you don't know what that means, your not as obsessed as me) 7. I learned to knit because I wanted to knit a Hogwarts scarf 8. the first thing I ever knit was a square that grew when I knit to tighly and split stitches. It was pulled out so I don't have it, but I do have the needles I learned to knit on 9. I look good in blue clothing 10. I always carry at least 2 lip glosses 11. I have 2 book shelves in my room, and there full 12. I own 1 knitting magazine, sadly 13. I have a sock feddish :D 14. I need at least 2 pillows on my bed, but I have 5 at the moment 15. I wear glasses sometimes, just when I can't see 16. I avaoid the library when I have overdue finse over $5 17. there is no space left in my closet, so don't even THINK about trying to open the seccond door unless you want to be crushed! 18. my bedroom is as wide as i am tall (about 5'6") 19. Woa. It's October tomorrow. I need to start crackin'! October is my favorit month not only because of the nice fall weather, pretty leaves, Thanksgiving and Haloween, but it is also the month of one of my best friends birthdays, and mine aswell! We are actually a year and one week apart. So now I have the task of getting together a birthday gift, aswell as a costume for halloween. I have some ideas, but I just need to find the right things. Still waiting on the yarn and camera front. I swear I am going to be sitting at the front door on monday, with hope that my camera will FINALLY be back in my hands. That poor postal worker, they won't even know whats hit them. As for the yarn................ who knows???? It will feel weird going to the knitting club with no knitting........ but hopefully I can drool over books and imagine I have all the yarn in the world and I am blissfully knitting away at every project I could ever think of........................ now that just makes me sad. Though, I have been using my time wisely. I made a Little Mermaid bag out of old sheets. Only problem, I made it square and wanted to fit an image in, so it is HUGE. So it is coming apart tomorrow and being downsized. I hope to get some fance things to make the strap adjustable, then I'll be happy. And I'd better finish it for sat. night, cause I'm going bowling! I'm still waiting for my yarn and camera. In the mean time, I have been sewing a lot. I made a bag for dance clothes(for school), a planner cover, pencil case, and you know about the t-shirts. My next plan is to make a Little Mermaid purse/bag thing out of old Little Mermaid sheets. All I need is some inside fabric. I'm really sorry about the non knitting content in these last posts. A little mail can brighten anyones day

Yesterday was very productive. I finished blue bubby #1, re-conned two t-shirts and painted a t-shirt. Plus, there was the added bonus of mail!! I received my free Cover Girl & Teen Vogue "Designed to a tee" contest t-shirt. All you had to do is buy 2 Cover Girl product totaling $9 or more, send the bill and get a free tee!!! The winning design is pretty cool. However, the tee is a big big on me, because I assume they printed one size hoping it would fit any girl. Oh well, I will get around to resizing it one day..........

So about my craftyness yeasterday(don't worry, part of it has to do with knitting!). I faux appliqued some fabric in the shape of a heart and flower onto some old tees and sewed some buttons on. The idea came from a $55 t-shirt i saw in the mall.

The tee I painted is so much fun and I ca't wait to wear it tomorrow!! It's a light pink t-shirt, with the words "I'd rather be knitting" painted on the front. On the back I painted a little ball of yarn with needles sticking out of it. Isn't that cute? I'm going to wear it to my knitting club meeting (can you say dork? I know I am :P).

And finally, some crafting today! I made a simple planner cover with some leftover lepord print fabric. Yes I was very bored this weekend and the idea of knitting ANOTHER bubby put me off knitting. Don't worry, as soon as I get my yarn for hipster, the needles will be a flyin'

Vacume cleaners hurt.

Sometime my family forgets about me. All alone down here in the basement. So they turn the lights off. No biggy, I can manouver myself from my bedroom to the staires, I know where everything is. CORRECTION, I don't know when someone leaves the vacume cleaner in the middle of my path to the staires. And let me tell you, running into vacume cleaners late at night is not good for you. I can feel the bruise forming. My knee is red and has lost some skin. Gross, I know, but it hurts!!!! Ok, enough of that. My Lambs Pride worsted yarn for Hipster is on its way :D. Can't wait to make it! Then I don't have to carry a big purse around(only a little one for knitting). Plus, I want to make one for my friends birthday with the leftover yarn. *happy dance* I am also praying for fellow bloggers in the path of Rita. What is going on with our world? I hope they are safe and that their stash is with them. Maybe they will finally finish some abandoned UFO's and will come out of the storme laden with freshly knit goods. It's an idea............. - tyred and wounded

ug. I'm very bored right now. I'm taking a break from Bubby #3 so I don't get to bored and swear off them before I make eough for all the people that want one! ...................... do do di do.................. and all I can do is wait. wait for my camera to arrived, fixed so I can re-take my outdoor photo shoot that got deleated, and take a pictures of my bubby family.... and basicly anything in sight the first day. I swear digital cameras are addictive. I think I am going through withdrawl. I am always thinking, I could take a picture of that! grrrrrr.......... ..............de dum de dum de dum......... I really hope I can find some yarn this weekend for my Weasley sweater. I feel bad being part of the KAL and not even have the yarn yet! I swear I'm trying! Yarn just doesn't want to find me! ....................... tap tap tap........................... click click......... oh, I do know what I am going to be for haloween this year. get this, a care bear!! I got the idea from Craftster. some guy made a care bear costume out of a matching sweatshirt and sweat pants set. I want to be the pink one. just b/c it's pink. and it's such an easy costume, warm, and kinda creative. not the witch I have been way too much. and it's cute. come on, who doesn't love a care bear? and even if I only wear it to school and on haloween while I hand out candy (b/c parents wont let me go out, so I will eat a candy for every kid that comes to the door............ thats not alot though b/c we live out of the main area in my city so we get like 20 kids), I will still have a cute sweatshirt afterwards and pink sweat pants. so i get clothing and a costume in one. kinda like last years costume. I was Shandi from ANTM. no one really got it, but I had fun and I now have a cool t-shirt (it says shanthrax on it :D) .................... *humm of a lawn mower/model plain, I'm not sure what it is but it's loud!)................. oh how I wish I could take a picture......... it's so pretty and warm today, and it's fall! waaaaaaaaaaa, i miss my camera. .................................................. oh, some knitting content. I have ordered some lamb's pride worsted yarn for hipster. it will arrive at it's shipping destination some time next week, and then I will have to go pick it up (b/c it's not being sent to my house). I don't care, yarn! ooohhh, how I wish I could tell you what olours it's going to be......... maybe I already told you but I will not again and it will be a surprise when it's all done. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee! ok, enough of this, I'm sure half the people that started reading this gave up somewear around my care bear costume............. thanks for anyone who stuck it out. uh................. yah................... not a very bright day for me here. toodls. - ..... what?

I am so happy!! I was at my schools knitting club meeting today. I got to talking with a lady, I'm assuming is some staff member from my school, and I was just so happy! Someone else that has the same dream of opening a yarn store in my little city, that has been to some of the same yarn stores I have and has the same knitting books I do!! I felt like finally!, someone else to talk with about knitting and to discuss project ideas and dream about yarn ........... she has the seccond book by our beloved Yarn Harlot!! She is also knitting something in cashmere and is going to bring it in for us to feel :) *I'm in knitting heaven* Plus, we want to take a feild trip as the knitting club to yarn shops!!! I LOVE THIS!!!!! OTHER CRAZY KNITTERS LIKE MYSELF!!!!!! Ok, I just had to get that out. I have a finished Hip scarf but no camera, so I will leave you on the edge of your seat waiting untill I a) borrow a camera or b) make someone take a picture and send it to me Bubby has almost one leg, and will most likely be finished today or tomorrow. - Happy knitter

.................. ok not really but it feals like it. Either that or I am getting dummer by the day. The reasons why I now hate Michales: 1. they seem to carry every kind of Lion Brand yarn, EXCEPT the kind I am looking for 2. it's a 30 min. transit ride 3. their coupons only apply to one item, whats the point in that? if it was for your entire purchaes then it would make my trips out there more worthwhile 4. when they put you on hold, they have tricky music. it goes quiet and you think they are finally going to talk to you, then it keeps on going!!! I'm sorry to all of you that love Michales. Maybe it is just my michales. But having gone there twice in a one week period looking for yarn and have come home empty handed. So from now on, I swear not to go to any store looking for yarn and wander around clulessly only to find out they don't have it. I will always call ahead to mkae sure they have exactly what I want. (lets see how long this lasts)

I don't quite know how to explain my weekend. It was full of yarn shop hopping, but it was unhappy. I was desperatly searching for some wool so I could make Hipster from the new Knitty, but no one had what I was looking for! Can you imagine that? So I finally gave up and searched online. I have found a store not so locally that has the exact yarn,but I am willing to travel. I just need to call them and see about the colours. All is good and happy in knitting land!! To other news, I joined my schools knitting club. Yes, I know I'm a dork. But now I have a reson to knit Alison's Hip scarf. I am using my school colours and incorperating the HP theme. It's great!! And to all of you that were sad about my camera (including me!), here are some pictures I managed to load onto the computer.

Soooooo soooo glad it's friday! I need a break from all this getting up early and doing stuff, that thing we call school! So today was pictures day, oh my. Long lines for a 30 seccond photo shoot. No kidding. The worst part is I decided to wear my new fancy shoes But I learned very quickly, pretty = painful. This was the first day wearing them for a long period of time. Even though I had those things you slip onto your feet that are made out of tights material but only cover your foot(you know what I'm talkin' about?), they still hurt! They rubbed at my heels and my blister (OW!). So lesson learned, buy those blister band-aids when wearing new shoes!!!! So any ways, I went to my first school even tonight :). First football game of the season! It was so much fun, my friend and I had a blast! We painted our faces and wore out school colours. You will also be happy to know that the fixation sock accompanyd me to the game. My school won, 42-0. WooOOoot! I also made the mistake of mixing coffee with my hot chocolate so this may not be the only entry I make tonight ................................... Sad news though, my camera is messed up and it keeps wiping my memory card. I had some great pictures I took outside, and of my friends and at the game and when I come home, there all gone. I don't know what it's problem is, but untill we find out i can't show you any new pictures :(. Wish me luck that it can be fixed!!!! -Karen

Only knitting on my mind

Bad things happen to you the first day of school. Don't worry, I didn't get lost. I was not late. I had friends in my classes. It's actually a pretty good semester. The problem came at the end of the day. Not having homework for 2 months can make you forget about. I grabbed all I needed so I didn't have to lug alot on the bus. I got home, had a drink and decided to get my homework done so I could use the rest of the night to knit. *looking through binder* form, form, form, where's that sheet I wrote my homework on? I have the text book so I didn't need the binder ......... oh crap. OH CRAP. I left it at school. HOW COULD I BE SO STUPID? Now, most of my classmates would be resonable, heck I could do it at lunch because I don't have math untill the afternoon. But something in me freaked out. I mean freak out like I just screwed up 50 rows back on an intricate lace patern in mohair screw up. So what do I do? Grab my sunglasses and bolt for the bus. This is where the probelms begin. It is rush hour. The traffic is not moving (I find out later because of a huge accident on the bridge everyone is trying to get over). So I decide to walk and catch the bus when it passes me. No bus comes. Oh about 6 pass me on the other side, but non on mine. So I walk. Now, I live in a small city so there is only one highschool. I live on one end of the city and it is on the other. So I get there, get my measly binder and start home. The heat is deathly. I have and expired bus pass so it wouldn't matter if a bus come or not. In my haste I slipped on flip flops. This all adds up to a sweatty, hot, dehydrated, me. My feet still hurt. Ok now that I have vented about that, onto something more intereting! I have finished fixation footie #1 and have cast on the top ribbing. My magic scarf is on its way but I like it as an at home project that i can enjoy and my friends will only see the finished project. After these two I will either make a bag (I want to make the french market bag) or the mitten from Vintage Knits. It all depends on what I have in my stash and what the stores have. Sorry this post is not really full of knitting. I can however offer you this picture:

I can not belive I left the camera at home!

A great day was had today, but sadly I forgot the camera. I went to Winners, and believe me there were the funniest shoes ever! I just wish you could have seen them .......... any ways I looked around, found a nice top and skirt, but only left with the top. Then off to Michales!!! I scored a beauteful wine tube that I am using to hold my knitting needles. However, my favorite purchase of the day were some beautiful glass(I think) beads that I got half off thanks to my coupon from the flyer. I made a gorgeous bracelet that I will flaunt at school next week(tee hee!). And don't forget the cutest kitty note pad!!! Sadly, there will be no pictures in this post. My memory card for my camer decided to crap out on me. I will take some pictures, look at them, turn the camera off, then turn it on and look at them again. BUT, when I go to my dads computer(because he has a card reader) to load them onto my computer, there gone! And when I try to look at them on my camera they have suddenly dissapered!!!! I am so enraged that I have given up on pictures tonight so I dont kill something ............ mainly the knitting! Wish me luck with getting this all sorted out. - Fustrated

Ok, so I decided I didn't like my old layout, and I think this one is just so pretty ....... so I changed everything. But thats ok, because it made me finally adjust the buttons on the sidebar to link to their homes! Yay for me! I am slowly working on more links for you to check out, and a gallery .......... Knitting progress: My summer memmories socks (formally know as icecream socks) are finished! Wooppieee!!!!

Yes I know the pictures are wierd, but that is only because it is incredibly hard to take good pictures of your feet!!

And now I will unveil to you, my magical scarf! I am using Crazy Aunte Purl's Magic Scarf pattern to create a checker board effect in the yarn. I finally gave up on using my GGH Safari yarn for socks and gave into a scarf. Hey, fall is coming up and this will go with everything because it has so many different colours!!!

As I have been serfing the net and visiting my usual blogs, I am reminded that most of them live in the U.S. and are all heartbroken over the devestation of Katrina. I have read storys of family members and other knitters being down there, left with nothing. It's a scary feeling, looking to what is happening in the world. I don't have means of donating money myself, but I came across this website: http://craftrevolution.com/craftersunited.htm

I like this idea of making use of our tallent to help others in need aswell as fellow knitters. So if you can't help by donating money, I like the idea of donating crafts for sale. It's a good way to use up you stash and to help other knitters. I would hope that if this sort of thing happend in my area that Americans would come to our aid as well. On a lighter note, I have been knitting like crazy to get some socks done before I get Vintage Knits and fall in love with a pattern and forget all about socks .............. because I know it's going to happen!! The gift pair is almost done, I just need the toe of the seccond sock, and to buy more yarn ............(yes I ran out). The first pair for myself is knit in a beautiful combination of bright colours. It's so yummy looking! It reminds me of icecream!! Ah, what wonderful summer socks. After that if I am still knitting socks, it will be and experiment with leftover Cascade Fixation yarn from my SnBN tankini(note to self, get a photo gallery up so people know what a project looks like when I am talking about it!!!) So here is a sneek peak of, wait ................ my icecream socks!(soon to be named better)

I am amazing myself with how much quicker the seccond pair of socks I have ever knit are compared to the first ones. It's probably because I have more projects (and yarn) already in my head and waiting to be started(that will be for me of course!) so I have lots of motivation to get these socks over with! As you know (I think) I am planning on making myself a pair of socks (footies non the less!!) with this beautiful sock yarn in pink yellow and orange (reminds me of sherbert and ice cream and all sorts of yummy stuff!!). After that is a mystery project with a skien of yarn I fell in love with and am seriously considering buying a seccond one depending on how this project works out. I'll keep you posted on my adventure! Ok, so I wasn't planning to put a picture in this post, but I can't resist!!!!

So now that I have filled my knitting quotent of this post I will tell you about my day. A couple of days ago I received a call for a lady telling me about how I was going to be a volunteer for a "doggy fun day" at my local park. I was in shock of how this person got my number so I just said ok, what time? Don't worry, I ended up having fun! I guess that I singed up for something and they never called me so they kept my number untill they needed someone. So my day was spent knitting while I sold raffle tickets and watched dogs do crazy things like bob for hot dog weiners (I kind you not!) and do three legged race (with three legged dogs!).

What happens when you have nothing better to do

Today was spent knitting and figuring out my computer. I spent most of my day knitting the sock that will soon become my sister's birthday present, and now I am spending the night learning more about blogging and photo hosting. I have finally sorted out this picture thing and I now present to you my Asana!

(ok so its not completely finished, but the knitting part is!) In other news, I spotted some beauteful sock yarn at the last LYS I visited the other day and I plan on making myself some socks that will finally be correct. My first pair of socks was a disaster! here is a picture of them if you dare lay eyes uppon them........(please don't look too closely at them)

Yes, even though it's summer I am slowly learning. Computer things that is, like how to post pictures on my blog ( notice handmade knitting needles??) and how to change things around. It's really quite interesting. Soon I will have an amazing blog! But there is always more for me to learn so for today, this is your only picture. Yes, I have finally decided to finish up my Asana (grumble it better not be messed up grumble grumble),and now I am hunting for my next project. I want something I can wear in the fall because I am most likely to finish it in October or even November if I am really slow :(aaaaaahhhhhh! school!!!!!!). I was thinking maybe my first sweater? But it can't be just any sweater, it has to be cute and able to wear with anything, and the yarn can't be too expensive (I am so picky!!). So to day I am visiting ANOTHER yarn store in search of my perfect LYS. Wish me luck that I can choose just one pattern!!!

As the summer end's, so do my summer projects!

Now that my summer is winding down I am busy trying to finish my summer knitting projects! I finished my Swirt and am half way done my Asana.
